PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds, mainly known by its abbreviation (PUBG), is a battle Royale game developed by PUBG studios and published by Krafton. It was released in December 2017 on Microsoft Windows and was released by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox One in the same month. In 2018, PUBG studio launched PlayStation 4 version and the PUBG Mobile, a free-to-play battle Royale for Android and iOS.
One hundred players parachute their way onto an island with the same goal, be the last man standing. Weapons, medic, helmets, Vest, scopes, attachments and vehicles, and other types of supplies are spread across the Island. The playable area shrinks as the match progresses, making the game more exciting and thrilling. Depending on the situation, players can switch between first-person and third-person to get the best out of it.
It is inspired by the Japanese film Battle Royale. Battle Royale in this game is similar to previous titles in the same genre, but the thrill, action-packed gameplay, and realistic environment PUBG provides are on a whole new level. As of 2022, PUBG has sold over 75 million copies on PC and Console, making it one of the most played video games of all time. It has also received multiple Game of the Year nominations and is one of the highest-grossing games of all time.
Before playing, players can choose between Solo, duo, or squad. There are four maps to choose from, having areas of approximately 8×8 Km, 6×6 Km, and 4×4 Km. In classic mode, players land on the surface with no equipment other than customized clothing. Every match is different from the previous one; every inch of the match is randomized. These randomized variables make the game more challenging and make you say, One more!
After landing, you can search buildings and other sites to find weapons, vehicles, armor, and other equipment to make your path to victory easy. Additionally, you can loot killed players and airdrops to find better weapons, vests, armor, and other supplies. Unfortunately, the playable area shrinks as the match progresses, and if you get outside in the non-playable area, your health will decrease eventually.
A red area called Red Zone is highlighted on the map several times during a match, which is bombed and can knock you down or kill you instantly. However, players are warned before it starts bombing in the highlighted area, and they can get shelter to avoid being hit.
A plane carrying an Airdrop flies over the map multiple times in a match and drops the airdrop on a random spot every time. There, in the airdrop, are the most valuable supplies like; AWM sniper rifle, Level 3 Vest, etc. In addition, the airdrop generates red smoke after landing on the ground, creating more confrontation between players.
PUBG is full of surprises. You cannot predict the next safe zone or where the next airdrop will be. Playing in Solo is fun, but duo and squad survivals give you an edge over being revived by your teammate. Holding a squad house, choosing the best route to the next safe zone, deciding when to engage in a fight or hold are the key tactics that will give you a Chicken Dinner.
